Lately in conversations with family, a singular word keeps coming up: Consistency.
A lot of people give their advice and opinion about what to do to be successful, including myself. I think its because one of the many keys of success is giving. What better way to give back than to help someone achieve their goals?
Frankly, that is what this blog is all about. By sharing my journey and experiences, I hope to inspire you to achieve something what you want to do. We’ll discuss the key of giving on another post.
Back to the topic at hand.
Consistency is defined by Webster-Merriam as harmony of conduct or practice with profession. Allow me to put it in “Amanda-nese:” consistency is your corresponding and relative actions based on what you want to do. Boom.
So, say you want to, I don’t know, be the next owner of the LA Clippers. Just kidding. But let’s use it anyway.
Step 1: Identify your Goal.
I want to…Own a Basketball Team.
What do you know about owning a team? This leads you to the next step.
Step 2: Learn about the profession.
Research. Read. Find a mentor. In this example, another basketball team owner to explain the daily operations. What does owning a team entail? How much does it cost, not just financially, but time wise. What type of commitment is necessary to be a “good” owner? What are rules to being a owner?
Step 3: Assess if you are the right candidate.
Can you and are willing to put in the work to reach the goal you have set for yourself? This is important. Here is where you face the first of a long line of opposition. If you can overcome your own doubts, fears, and critical talk – you can get over what anyone else may say to you.
Bishop T.D. Jakes said it best, for me, “The reality is that you have to feel the fear [babygirl] and do it anyway.”
Step 4: Make a plan to make it happen.
Take the time to map out where the money, support, and how you are going to meet the obligations of the role you are undertaking.
Step 5: Work your plan.
Here is where the consistency really comes into play. As you work your plan, the consistent action you take will be the proof to yourself you can do and that you are accomplishing your goal.
See, consistency is more for you than anyone else, but it also shows others the seriousness and determination you have to being what you want to be in life.
Alright now, I would really like to hear what you think, share what you would like to do and what is your corresponding action.
Do forget, if you found this helpful or interesting – Pass it on & Share it.
Amanda
P.S. Consistent action will yield the results you want to achieve. Ta-ta-for-now.
